Small electrical items that are no longer working or are obsolete can be recycled in the Small WEEE banks that are supplied by the Local Authorities.
Basically any small electrical item with a plug, charger or batteries can be put in the Small WEEE bins – for example:
- Personal care items – hairdryers, electric razors, electric toothbrushes
- DIY equipment – drills, sanders, electric screwdrivers
- Gadgets – Laptop computers, computer keyboards, MP3 players, mobile phones, headphones, earphones, radios
- Kitchen and homeware – irons, blenders, kettles, toasters
The WEEE banks generally have opening dimensions are 52cm (20in) by 51cm (20.5in) although some may be smaller than this. Items that are too large to fit, such as TVs, washing machines and fridges must not be left next to the banks.
