Furniture Re-use Network
The Furniture Re-use Network (FRN) is the national co-ordinating body for 400 furniture and appliance re-use and recycling organisations in the UK that collect a wide range of household items to pass onto people in need.
In the case of beds, it’s the mattress that is most problematic, for hygiene reasons. If the mattress is past it’s best, then see if your Local Authority will recycle it. However, recycling the bed base is easier, (and if the mattress is clean) it would probably be very welcome somewhere like: Furnish – who collect donated furniture and redistribute it.
