Problems of mico-plastics in our environment are now well documented, plastics are being found in the stomachs of wildlife and finding their way into our food. Even from our washing machines, millions of tiny micro-fibres, are shed from synthetic clothes into the waterways. The problem seems insurmountable.
Introducing the Guppyfriend wash bag, developed by a German company and made from a fine untreated and undyed Polyamide mesh the Guppyfriend is designed to catch even the tiniest microfibres during the washing cycle thus preventing them from being washed down the drains and into the water systems.
As a part of a test program, the Fraunhofer Institute UMSICHT has confirmed that the Guppyfriend Washing Bag reliably retains microfibres, and compared to washing without the Guppyfriend Washing Bag, 86% fewer fibres are shed from synthetic textiles. And as a bonus the Guppyfriend also helps to protect the fibres in the textiles from breaking, so helping the clothes to last longer.
