Corrugated cardboard cycle helmet
I saw this cycle helmet at the RCA degree show in 2011 and was wowed by the simplicity of the design and of course the environmental credentials.
The Kranium AKS 1 is the brainchild of industrial design graduate Anirudha Surabhi, the Kranium has an interlaced corrugated cardboard skeleton covered with a clear plastic shell and has been proven to offer more effective protection than a traditional EPS helmet during multiple, stringent tests. And of course, it will be easily disassembled for recycling.
I am thrilled to discover that the Kranium has been licensed by German manufacturer Abus, who have now released a clear plastic shell version of the lid.
