Read International

Supplying hundreds of schools and libraries with books….

READ International began life following a students ‘gap year’ teaching in Tanzania who was shocked at the lack of educational resources available to students and teachers there.

By supplying hundreds of schools and libraries with books, they want to see improved academic performance in schools, with access to high-quality educational resources; they want child literacy rates to soar; and they want thousands of people to benefit from them.

Their success in Tanzania led to their Ugandan expansion – all Welsh and Scottish projects will deliver books to Uganda, whilst the English projects remain linked with Tanzania.

They currently have 35 book donation bins in 7 London boroughs in partnership with waste disposal company Veolia and ethical book-sellers ‘Better World Books’.

Our Book Bins are in Westminster, Lambeth, Kingston, Tower Hamlets, Haringey, Southwark and Richmond.
